Pulakaumaka means Obsession in Hawaiian… and giving the pattern this name was a no-brainer because I worked on the model day and night. In fact, I could barely stop for any reason! I was obsessed. I’m not sure whether it was the rhythmic knitting of the seed stitch, or the way the delicious hand dyed yarn splashed its color across the shawl as it grew, I just could not put it down and ended up finishing within a couple of days. For me, the fringe adds a bit of nostalgia. I love it and it suits my style quite well. But if you don’t like fringe just leave it off! The knit edge will curl inward and give the shawl a clean finish.
