THIS IS NOT A PATTERN FOR THE FULL HAT.

This is a MINI pattern for how to modify an existing hat pattern into a pumpkin. OR how to crochet a topper that you can sew onto any existing orange hat.

If you like the look of the hat in these photos you can find that pattern here and just add these modifications to it but these will work with any hat

Supplies:

  • Worsted Weight Yarn (about 100- 150 yards depending on the variations you choose) If you are doing the base portion as a modification of an existing hat pattern, and that hat is NOT made in a worsted weight, then I’d suggest choosing a green that matches your vine and stem yarn in the appropriate weight for the hat but still using worsted for those two pieces.
  • Size H hook…ish. you don’t need to be really finicky. Just something that works well with your yarn and makes a fabric with some body. If it’s too loose your stem will flop over and the vine will not curl.
  • Yarn needle

Stitches used:

  • CH- Chain
  • SL- Slip Stitch
  • SC- Single Crochet
  • HDC- Half Double Crochet
  • DC- Double Crochet
  • FPSC- Front Post Single Crochet
  • FPHDC- Front Post Half Double Crochet

Notes:

  • I’ve included a photo tutorial for some parts of the pattern at the end. If you don’t need it.

  • I would call this an advanced beginner/ intermediate project.

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
