With this pattern you can make yourself a cute little Pumpkinhead Witch or Scarecrow, perfect to keep you company during the cool autumn days. They’re not really scary at all, but they’re just the thing for a happy Halloween.

The pattern is quite straightforward and suitable for beginner/intermediate crocheters. The instructions are detailed and easy to follow if you know the basic stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi, with lots of photos to help with the more tricky techniques. They are written in English using US crochet terms, and the list of abbreviations includes the UK alternatives. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have as you are making it.

Finished size:
Witch: approximately 15 cm/6” tall.
Scarecrow: approximately 11 cm/4.5” tall.

Materials:
Use double knitting (DK) weight yarn (amounts below are approximate). This is equivalent to 3:light in the US and 8 ply in Australia/NZ. You can completely substitute thinner or thicker yarn and the pattern should still be in proportion, though you may need to change the hook size and the amount of yarn needed will be different.

20g black yarn.
5g green yarn.

Pumpkinhead Scarecrow:
10g orange yarn.
10g yarn for shirt.
10g yarn for trousers.
5g yarn for hands (brown for stick arms, golden brown for straw, any colour for gloves).
5g yarn for boots.
Small amounts of black yarn, green yarn, and yarn for neck scarf.

Stuffing.
1 pair 10.5mm black safety eyes for each Pumpkinhead.
Tapestry needle.
