Nothing’s cuter in the fall than a little “punkin” hat for your baby. This would be cute as a Halloween costume for fussy babies who don’t like dressing up, but it’s also cute whenever. I used orange for the main color, but conceivably you could use a different color and it would look like a berry or a flower, which would make great springtime options.

This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up with some very simple stranded color work. If you’ve never done stranded color work, this is a great first project!

Techniques Used

  • Casting On
  • Working in the round
  • 8x8 rib (knit 8, purl 8)
  • Knit 2 together decreases
  • Centered double decreases (slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over)
  • Icord
  • Binding Off
  • Weaving in edges
