When I was very young, my mother taught me to sew. She was an amazing tailor, and she gave me my own box of thread, my own pins and thimble, and - best of all - my very own little tomato pincushion filled with sawdust that crunched satisfyingly when I squished it. I kept that cherished possession for years and years and years, until finally - when I left for college - it disappeared. Fast forward to this past summer when I was on a button hunt through all the craft stores in the area. And there it was: a tomato pincushion hanging on the notions wall. Of course, I snatched it up and took it home with me. But this one was decidedly not as satisfying; things just aren’t made the way I remembered! So I decided to create my own - a pumpkin instead of a tomato - and share it with all of you, whether you had your own tomato as a child or not. Everyone needs a fun pincushion, and this one is a sweet and quick way to pass an afternoon.
