I started with an idea of an unusual gusset and a lace insert. The journey of design means that the final result is a little different than my initial imaginings. Allowing a design to grow and change organically is where the magic truly happens.

Skills required
Suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter. You need to know how to knit in the round, work ribbing throughout (including adding increases in pattern) increase and decrease and create yarn overs.

Tools
3mm (US2.5) 32”/80cm circular needle or dpns as preferred for small circumference knitting (or size needed to obtain correct tension).
Waste yarn
Stitch markers
Darning needle

Tension
7 stitches and 10 rows over 1”/ 2.5cm in 2x2 ribbing, slightly stretched.

Yardage requirements
130 - 150m

Sizes
One size. Due to the stretchy nature of ribbing and lace, these mitts can fit most hand sizes. If you have very large hands, consider going up a needle size.

Actual hand circumference
6-8”/ 15-20.5cm
