Puppy Pete is the star of the Children’s Book, Puppy Pete’s Imaginary Jungle. A children’s book illustrated in crochet!
This pattern is available for Free so you can make your child a Puppy Pete to go with the book.

This pattern is written in US terminology.
This pattern includes directions for the cotter pin neck joint, but it is not necessary to complete the pattern. If you choose not to do the jointed neck, you can simply sew the head in place.
The limbs are made first and attached as you go.

MATERIALS
  • Worsted weight yarn (medium 4)
  • For Color A (main body) I used 25 g (0.9 oz) of Loops & Threads, Impeccable in Heather
  • For Color B, a small amount of Black yarn for the nose. I used Loops & Threads, Impeccable in Black
  • 3.75 mm hook
  • Fiberfill
  • Optional: one 3/32 x 1 ½ cotter pin, two 3/16 fender washers, two No. 6 Countersunk type finishing washers, and pliers for bending the cotter pin (if you are doing the jointed neck)… you can buy these at the hardware store
  • Size 10mm Doll safety eyes in Black (Not for children under 3. If you are making this for a smaller child, please embroider or needle felt the eyes on)
  • Doll making needle or whatever needle you like to use to hide your ends and sew your ears in place.

    GAUGE

Gauge is not important for this pattern. Just make sure it’s tight so your fiberfill doesn’t show through your stitches. If you are a loose hooker, you might want to go down an additional hook size to compensate for this.
To give you an idea of size, my guy measures about 6” from the top of his head to the tip of his toes, and about 1 3/4” across at the widest point of his belly.
