Puppy Sonya
Crochet pattern “Puppy SONYA”
The pattern contains 12 pages of instructional material accompanied by 68 photos.
Basic crochet skills are a prerequisite.
The pattern is available in English (US terms).
The final size will depend on the yarn you use. To get the smallest size (3 cm [1.2 in] , use embroidery thread.
Crochet level: intermediate and above.
To crochet this Puppy SONYA, you will need:
• Textured Yarn: Adelia Baby Toy in white. The thinner the thread, the smaller the finished toy will be, and vice versa.
Alternative Textured Yarns (US & European Markets):
- Rainbow Gallery Wisper Thread (20 yds): A fine thread made of a mohair and wool blend. It is a classic choice for miniatures: easy to crochet with and fluffs up perfectly with a slicker brush, creating a very realistic, dense fuzz.
- Rainbow Gallery Angora Embroidery Floss (Vintage): A soft, vintage angora wool thread. It features a light, natural, and delicate fluff. Perfect for creating an incredibly soft texture on tiny details.
- Rainbow Gallery Fuzzy Stuff Thread (15 yds): A synthetic novelty yarn with built-in fuzz (similar to a micro “eyelash” yarn). It creates the effect of a very dense and thick fur right as you crochet, minimizing the need for heavy brushing.
- Fluffy Embroidery Thread (from Ukrainian makers on Etsy): A fine fluffy thread, often hand-dyed or locally produced (usually mohair or a wool blend). A great and affordable alternative to major brands, offering a rich color palette. It holds its shape well and fluffs up beautifully when brushed.
• Black Thread: A small piece of black sewing thread for the nose and collar.
• White Thread: Strong white polyester sewing thread for sewing parts, assembly, and thread sculpting (indentations).
• Crochet Hook: 0.6 mm (you can also use 0.75 mm [US steel hook 14]).
• Eyes: Black eyes for toys, 2 mm in diameter, [0.08 inches], here is a paid tutorial with detailed instructions.
• Accessories: A small pendant for the collar (the author used a charm from a bracelet).
• Glue: Superglue (gel type).
• Tools: A thin, strong needle for sewing pieces together, and sharp scissors.
• Stuffing: polyester fiberfil
• Styling Tools: Tweezers, round-nose pliers, a slicker brush (pet brush), a hard toothbrush, and a toothpick.
• Tinting Materials: Brown and black oil pastels, a dense synthetic brush, and a black fabric marker.
