The Purlicious Beanie is a warm and soft, chunky knit hat with lots of structure that shows off the radiant and almost iridescent colors of the Malabrigo Rasta yarn. You will need a bit less than 1 hank (70-80 yards) of Malabrigo Rasta yarn (or similar chunky yarn). The hat shown in the pattern photos is knitted in the colorway Sunset. You will find cheaper alternative yarn suggestions in this blog post introducing the pattern.

The Danish version of the pattern is also available (in Denmark only) as a kit with yarn and pom.

The hat is knitted in the round on 16” circular needles US size 13 (9mm) and you will also need a set of DPNs in the same size for the top of the hat. Other than that you will need a darning needle and a stitch marker, and a pom pom if you like.

The pattern is suitable for a beginner to an advanced beginner. It is both fast and easy to knit. You will need to know how to knit and purl and how to knit in the round. The ribbing is twisted ribbing, and there’s a link to a tutorial.

The hat is stretchy and will fit most people from a small female head to an average male head.
