On International Women’s Day, here’s my small contribution.

I made a ‘pussy hat’ according to the original pattern (available here on Ravelry and at the Pussy Hat Project.) I didn’t enjoy the seaming at the end. So here’s an alternative pattern. It’s knit in the round and there’s absolutely no sewing up to do!

ABOUT THIS PATTERN
The hat is knit in the round with a 3-needle cast off (bind off) to finish. (Beginners: Links to tutorials are provided for the techniques required. Don’t be daunted by the 3-needle bind off. It’s easier than sewing the seams together, I promise.)

Size is a medium. (I found the hat I made using the orginal pattern was far too big for me so this is sized down. If you’re knitting for someone with a big head or big hair then cast on another 4 stitches.)

MATERIALS
1 skein worsted-weight yarn
40cm (15”) circular needles in 5mm (size 8)
1x6mm (size 10) straight needle
optional stitch marker
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
