Pyrrhula is a triangle shawl worked from the top down. It features a garter border, double yarn over increases on the edges for a longer wingspan, and simple make one increases along the center. The main body is worked in a ribbed texture that can be knitted with one colour per side in Intarsia and the shawl is finished with an easy lace border.
The pattern provides tips on how to work in Intarsia if desired and charted instructions only.

Yarn :
For a three colour shawl, you will need :
CA (red) : 350 meters – 385 yards
CB (brown) : 330 meters – 360 yards
CC (gold) : 400 meters – 438 yards
of fingering weight yarn.

The shawl can easily be knitted with only 2 colours, for example skipping the Intarsia and making the texture in just one colour, then the lace in a contrast.
The design will also work well as a monochrome shawl.

Sample used Les Petites Potions Linalca in Another Brick in the wall (CA), Nuttcino (CB) and Butterelle (CC).

Needles :
3 mm (US 2.5) needles
or size required to get gauge

Gauge :
21 sts x 40 rows per 10 cm – 4” in texture motif after blocking.
Note that a different gauge will affect size and yarn usage.

The sample is knit with an alpaca blend that required a denser than usual gauge for a shawl. If you are using a different fiber, your preferred gauge may be different : make sure you get a fabric that’s drapey but not too loose.

Pyrrhula est un châle triangulaire tricoté de haut en bas. Il se tricote avec une bordure en point mousse, des augmentations en jetés doubles sur les bords pour une plus longue envergure, et des augmentations intercalaires au centre. La partie principale est en texture de fausses côtes anglaises qui peut se faire avec une couleur par côté en Intarsia, et le châle se finit par une bordure en dentelle simple.
Le patron contient des notes pour tricoter en Intarsia si voulu et des instructions en diagramme uniquement.

Laine :
Pour un châle à trois couleurs, vous aurez besoin de :
CA (rouge) : 350 mètres
CB (brun) : 330 mètres
CC (doré) : 400 mètres
de laine fingering.

Le châle se tricote facilement avec seulement deux coloris, par exemple en ignorant l’Intarsia et en faisant la partie texturée d’une couleur, puis la dentelle en contrastant.
Le modèle fonctionnera également bien en uni.

Notez qu’un échantillon différent affectera la taille et le métrage nécessaire.

Le prototype est tricoté dans un mélange d’alpaga qui a demandé un échantillon plus dense qu’habituellement pour un châle. Si vous utilisez une fibre différente, vous souhaiterez peut-être tricoter à un échantillon différent : prenez soin d’avoir un tricot qui drape sans être trop lâche.
