The Quadrant Crossbody is a generously-sized shoulder bag with lace details. After blocking, the bag measures 15 inches wide, 16 inches long, and 1.5 inches deep with a 48” strap. The strap length is easily customizable. This bag hangs close to the body, hitting between the hip and the knee, which makes it perfect for navigating busy farmer’s markets or a walk on the beach. The bag is knit flat in pieces and then seamed together, which helps hold the rectangular shape.

To make this crossbody, knitters will need to know how to cast on, knit and purl, bind off, and work basic lace stitches (k2tog, ssk, and YO). The pattern has complete line-by-line written directions and is also fully charted. Suggestions and photos are provided for blocking and seaming. Two identical rectangular lace panels for the front and back make the bag reversible; the bottom, sides, and strap of the bag are knit in a single piece. For a neater finish, the bottom of the bag can be cast on provisionally and then joined with the Kitchener stitch, as pictured. Alternative directions are given for knitters who would prefer to seam the bottom of the bag together.

US #6 / 4 mm needle (I prefer a 16-inch circular, but straight needles can be used instead)
