This sweater was designed for my
junior year in college. Our theme was
famous couples, so I decided to pick
William Wallace and Queen
Isabella. This sweater is off the
shoulder, close fitting, with puffed
sleeves.

Size: This sweater will fit a size 31”-34” chest. Larger sizes are in parenthesis for a (34-37”, 36-39”)
(It can be worn with 0-3” of negative ease at chest)

Yarn
(The original yarn used in the sweater have been discontinued. I do recommend using Madelinetosh Tosh Chunky, held only with one strand, instead of the multi strands in the original. You should still use elastic where indicated.)
Original Yarns Used:

  • 6(7, 8) balls Dale Tiur (sport weight, 60% wool, 40% mohair, 126 yds/50G ball) in color 9852
  • 7(9, 9) skeins Berroco Softwist (worsted weight, 59% rayon, 41% wool, 100yds/50G skein) color 9445 Recommended Substitute Yarns:
  • 5(6, 6) yards Madelinetosh Tosh Chunky (100% superwash merino wool, 165 yds/125G skein) Needles and Notions:
  • 3 cards (150 yards total) of Rainbow elastic in a matching color
  • 4 stitch holders
  • US size 10 (6mm), 8 (5mm) and 3 (3.25mm) straight knitting needles
  • circular needle US size 8 (5mm), 24” length

Gauge
13 sts, 22 rows = 4” in stockinet stitch (knit one row, purl one row) using one strand of Tiur and Softwist on size 10 needles after blocking.
15 sts= 4” in 2x2 rib on size 8 needles, slightly stretched.
