The pattern is written using DK yarn, but to make a smaller size you could use a fingering yarn and a smaller hook. Likewise using thicker yarns and larger hooks would make a larger sized bootie.

Only a few yards are required for each bootie so this is a good way to use up bits of stash yarn.
