This is a seamless, quick-knit beanie that allows you to try planning how a multicolored skein of yarn might pool its colors: vertically stacked, swirling, or in a zigzag fashion. You’ll want a skein of heavier-weight yarn with large, somewhat long blocks of color. If these color blocks are less than about 5-6” in length you probably won’t get the desired effect. You can adapt this pattern for lighter-weight yarns using the same technique for figuring out your cast on. Of major importance is being able to CO enough stitches to not only overlap colors so they pool but also be the right size for that human head on which it’ll be worn.
