I have updated the Quiet the Mind pattern to my current style and added a stitch chart to help you get started. The new file is now available. An update has been sent purchasers of this pattern.

Crocheting and knitting have long been known as a form of relaxation and as a way to quiet the mind. These fiber arts are much like meditation in that they are used for relaxation, as a way to minimize anxiety, to relieve stress and as a way to refocus the mind. As you concentrate on your stitches, and count and focus on your work, you are able to slow down your thoughts and forget about your day-to-day worries and issues. All of the crocheters and knitters that I know can’t wait to get back to their yarn and their hooks and needles and get some much needed mental quietness and relaxation after a busy day.

My Quiet the Mind scarf has an asymmetrical boomerang shape, and is an easy and fast crochet project. After the set up row, the stitch pattern is an easy two-row repeat that you can easily memorize. The endpoint is measured and you do not have to count stitches and rows. So, grab your hooks and your favorite DK weight yarn and quiet your mind!

Note: You will need about 500 yards of DK weight yarn if you plan to wet block the scarf, which will add substantial length. I highly recommend wet blocking and easy instructions are included in the pattern. If you do not plan to wet block the scarf you’ll need about 650 yards to reach the desired length.
