★ Chunky, quick, and cozy all winter long

I love working up a quick knit hat in a chunky yarn with a beautiful yet simple texture. This one will keep you cozy all fall and well into the winter months.

The stitch was inspired by Barbara Walker’s wonderful Treasury of Knitting Patterns. The hat is worked in the round from the brim up to your desired length.

✨ What makes it work

• Easy to resize. Repeats are worked in multiples of 6 + 3, so sizing up or down is simple.
• Worked in the round. Start at the brim and knit to the length you like.
• Chunky yarn. A fast knit with lovely texture.

✂️ What you’ll need

• Yarn: Chunky, Madelinetosh (chunky weight), approx. 110 yds (100 m). Color shown: Earl Grey.
• Love a swap? Ultra Wool Chunky, Berroco · Vera, Red Heart · Serpentina, Manos Del Uruguay
• Needles: US 9 (5.5mm) and US 7 (4.5mm), DPNs or circular needles
• Tools: Yarn Needle · Scissors
• To finish like the sample: Fur Pompom (tutorial on the blog)

• Size: Adult, brim stretches to fit 19” to 23” heads. Height is 9”.
• Skill level: Intermediate
• Gauge: 14 sts and 24 rows = 4” x 4” in stockinette · gauge help
