Quinque hat is a lighter version of my Araucaria hat that was designed in my further attempt to explore the brioche stitch and its endless possibilities. The hat is knit bottom up in the round on circular or/and double pointed needles. This attractive textural rib stitch pattern is based on the same principles as the brioche knitting, and whether you are familiar or not with brioche knitting, you will find this stitch quite easy to knit. Furthermore, the same as its famous cousin, the 2-colour classic brioche stitch, it can be knit in two colours adding even more dimension and interest to the finished look.

The sample is knit in a single colour, but the instruction is provided to make a 2-colour version. Also, the hat can be knit in dk or worsted weight yarn; the gauge and yardage are given for each yarn weight.

The pattern instruction has both a chart and a wholly written instruction.
