The Circle Club 2017

This sock has been released as part of The Circle Club, a collaboration between Clare from Knit Share Love and Joy from The Knitting Goddess.

May | Green enriched with grey

A steel disc glides gracefully towards the hob rising from the ground.

The traditional game of Quoits served as the inspiration for these socks. The game involves throwing rings, traditionally made from steel, from a set distance towards a spike, often called a hob, in the ground. It was very popular during the 19th and 20th centuries but is still played today in the UK and USA.

Worked from the top down or from the toe up, Quoits features a circular cable motif flanked by bold columns of twisted rib and eyelet details. The heel is created with a standard heel flap and gusset in both directions.
