The pattern is written with five colors but you could use more or less. Uses less than 1 skein of yarn in all.
The sample is worked with
5 and 4.50 mm crochet hooks although Guage is not really a factor.

2 sets Safety eyes or embroidery thread
Small piece of felt for the waddle was used.

The pattern has many pictures and good explanation but Basic Crochet skills are expected. There is no beginner’s guide.
