Rachel is a messenger bag with long shoulder strap. It has a lacy knitted square motif on each side. The bottom and top edge is crocheted to stabilize the knitted fabric, but it can also be knitted in garter sts if you prefer knitting. The shoulder strap can be knitted as an icord.
Use a cute floral fabric for lining to go with the lacy stitches. :)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Width: 22 cm
Length: 27 cm

Material
DK weight cotton yarn: 300 m
4 mm (US 6) double pointed needle x 5 - or size needed to get 1 square to measure 22 x 22 cm.
4 mm (US G) hook
1 button (2 cm diam)
Fabric for lining: 24 x 29 cm (1 cm seam allowance on each side) x 2 pieces

Note for BO round:
For more defined corners of the square, you inc 1 st in first and last st on each needle when you bind off:
In the first st on first needle, you knit 1 without letting the st leave the left needle, then you knit 1 in the back loop of the same st, and let the st go. Now you have 2 sts on your right needle, and you bind off as usual, that is to pass the first st over the second st, now you have increased and BO at the same time. Knit and BO until the last st on the needle, and you do the same in that st.
If you have not knitted a pattern and bind off before, it may be confusing. But it is really simple, because you knit just as it says - with or without pattern stitch/ inc / dec - and bind off at the same time.
