I love experimenting with new construction techniques, but sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to get the exact look and shape I envisioned. These mitts were no exception - I think I knit 3 versions before I got it right. I really wanted a central lace flower, and I am so happy with how they turned out!

Believe it or not, but these mitts are knit in the shape of a square, from the center out, with an afterthought gusset and thumb! The unique construction begins with a central lace flower (hence the name Rain Lily!), and then transitions to a square that is knit in the round. Using a 3 needle bind off, no seaming is required!
