Rainbow-haired Monster
This friendly little monster could be part of your Halloween decoration or year-round decoration, or a toy for children who are old enough not to put their toys in their mouths.
The body is worked in the round (with a bit of sewing at the bottom) and all the details are sewn to it besides the wings, for which you’ll have to pick up stitches on the sides of the body unless you prefer sew them on too. The wings and the legs are the only pieces that are worked flat. The tail and horns are worked as i-cord.
This pattern involves the backward loop increase, which may be unusual for you, but is not difficult to learn. The “make one” increase is a good enough substitute for the bottom of the body, but not for the wings.
Sorry for the purling of the wings due to my local technique that makes me a purl stitch lover (yes, we exist!). They are the only such “eccentricity” in the entire pattern.
Other tools and materials:
• tapestry needle
• a little bit of toy stuffing
• three small beads of suitable colors (about 5 mm long) for the eyes and nose
• sewing needle and sewing thread for the beads
• a little bit of cardboard (or your preferred pom pom making tool) and thin-bladed scissors for the pom poms
• Optional: stitch markers (4), crochet hook for picking up stitches, pins or other placement markers
