I was inspired by the delightful ripply rainbow of Stitchylinda’s Pastel Rainbow Baby Blanket, but for me, it needed something more. It needed…bobbles.

The Rainbow Ripple Bobble Blanket. It’s a tongue twister, it’s a baby blanket, it’s a wiggly bobbly rainbow delight.

I cast on 157 stitches for the sample blanket and worked 4 rainbow repeats, which worked out to a blanket that is 32 inches by 42 inches (81 cm x 107 cm). You can work this pattern over any multiple of 18 stitches + 12 stitches to create a blanket of any size.

Gauge is not crucial for sizing, but the bobbles do tend to look neater at a tighter gauge, so consider that when choosing your yarn and needles. The sample is worked on needles smaller than recommended for the yarn.

You will need about 420 yards of the main color and 120 yards of each contrasting color to make a 32”x42” blanket in the recommended yarn.
