My oldest daughter (who is currently 6) has been asking me for months to make her a rainbow unicorn. My daughter likes pretty much all things related to horses and horse-like creatures, so this didn’t come as a big surprise. My daughter was heavily involved in the planning of this pattern as she had some very specific requirements. At first, she wanted the entire unicorn to be a rainbow (body, horn, mane, tail, hooves, etc). I thought this might be a tad too much flair so I convinced her to go with solid colors for everything except the horn, mane and tail. I negotiated her down to 4 colors on the horn (I think she was as high as 10 at one point) and 6 for the mane and tail. The nice thing about this pattern is that it’s easy to customize to whatever you want. You can change the colors and lengths of yarn (for the mane and tail) and get a very different look. My daughter was very excited to get it, but she actually turned it right back over to me the first time because I originally made it without a mouth (as I mentioned, she had very specific requirements!).
