I live in Cardiff on the South Wales coast, on top of a hill with a view over the Bristol Channel. The prevailing winds come straight up the Bristol Channel and against my house, or so it seems! Wales is also known for its regular rain, and that, combined with the south-westerly winds, makes for rain that looks like it’s coming in sideways! This stitch pattern reminded me of the way the rain looks outside my window. At the same time this hat will keep that blustery wind out of my ears! It is designed to be a fairly relaxed fit, and you can wear it either as a slouch hat or with the ribbed brim folded up as a more fitted beanie. There is also a Raining Sideways Mitts pattern available.

This pattern is available in one size - as the hat is stretchy, it should fit most adults. Less than 100g of DK will get you a hat and the matching pompom.
