The Rainy Day Shawl was designed for mohair yarn, but could be made using any kind of wool/wool blend yarn, or why not try your favorite sock yarn? The Estonian stitches work equally well with lace yarn and heavier weight yarn, but lighter colours and solid or semi solid colours are to be preferred, as they show both lace design and nupps better than darker colours and variegated yarn.

Yarn used
ITO Sensai, 60% mohair, 40% silk, 262 yards (240 m) per 20g skein. The shawl as shown was knit using two skeins or 524 yards (479 m) in the colour 078 Rainy Day.

If you want to make a larger shawl, work more repeats as indicated in the pattern, and remember to buy more yarn.

Size: 70 x 150 cm (27.6 x 59 inches) obtained with 2 skeins of yarn. Can be extended and go as large as you want, just remember to buy more yarn.

Needles used: US 6 – 4 mm.

Gauge is not important. Always use a needle size that gives you a fabric you like. Every knitter’s tension is unique.
