Ramblin’ Woman is a loose fitting cardigan knit in the round from the top down and then steeked. The finished cardigan can be worn loose and open or wrapped and tied with the optional belt.

This sweater was designed in collaboration with Candice of the Farmer’s Daughter Fibers. Candice and I share a love of old country music and the exuberant stage styles worn by performers like Dolly Parton, Gram Parsons, Porter Wagoner and Loretta Lynn. Candice created a beautiful palette of colors for me to work with, and my goal was to create a wearable work of art that was inspired by those over the top looks from the 60’s and 70’s. I am so happy with the result!

I used 7 colors for this design, making this sweater a great stash buster! All over colorwork with mostly short floats makes this knit fun to knit from beginning to end. Scared of steeking? No need to be! This is a fun technique that is much easier and less intimidating than it seems at first. I recently hosted a steekalong in my group and the thread is still open for reference and chat. Feel free to pop over there to see how easy and fun steeking can be!
