This yarn beautifully highlights some of the national parks in Canada, so I wanted to showcase the colours of the yarn more than any stitch pattern.

I decided to use plain stockinette stitch to show the beautiful colours in the yarn and incorporate some random rows representing paths in the park, with an eyelet stitch (therefore the name of the pattern). The eyelet rows are placed randomly. You can decide where to place these random rows or paths. Make them one repeat wide or three to four repeats wide. In other words, if you like, vary the width of the paths.

The cowl is knitted flat, bottom up, starting with a provisional cast on and a three needle bind off. It has a three stitch rolled edge on each side. It only takes one skein or 400 meters / 437 yards of yarn to knit this cowl. This is an easy pattern to do but I labelled it as intermediate since it uses a provisional cast-on and three-needle bind off (if you’re not familiar with these techniques, just do a regular cast-on and bind-off, and seam the two edges together).

You can wear this cowl once around your neck as a long loop or twisted double, for a shorter version. This is the perfect, cozy accessory for those chilly weather walks on your favourite forest paths.
