Raposo is the name of my new design. It is Portuguese for ‘fox’ in English, ’vos’ in Dutch. Vos is the last name of one of my closest online friends, Pauline Vos. She is the reason why I named this pattern Raposo - she has been standing at my side since the beginning of my journey as a designer.

Raposo will be published as a mini CAL. These are the release dates:
Info: July 2nd, 2020
Part 1: July 9th, 2020, octagons
Part 2: July 16th, 2020, squares, half and quarter squares
Part 3: July 23rd, 2020, joining parts (join-as-you-go method) and border

The pattern will be beginner friendly - the written instructions are comprehensive and include lots of pictures. Every part has a video tutorial as well. But advanced crocheters will also have fun making this pattern. I promise you, it won’t be boring.

Raposo consists of several elements that can be combined to make your own project: octagons and squares filling the ‘holes’ between them. I’ll also give you directions for half-squares and quarter-squares to make the edgings straight, so that a border can frame the design.

Raposo was designed to become a nice lacy throw, but it has potential to become a lot more than that. A baby blanket, an afghan, a pillowcase, a summer top, even a tunic, … - combine the elements for your own project! Look at the pictures, they’ll show you some examples of the Raposo possibilities. I am sure you can find your very own creation for this versatile pattern.

You can make Raposo with 5 colors as I did, but you can also make it with less colors, just taking care that all the yarns you use have the same yarn weight.

You can choose whatever yarn you want, depending on what you want to create. For larger items you will need more yarn of course; the yarn amounts I am stating in the information file are for DK yarn and the baby blanket I made first. Just make sure your hook matches the yarn to create a nice drapey fabric. The size of the elements of Raposo will differ according to your yarn and hook.

Have fun with Raposo mini CAL - the newest Haaksteek adventure!

Love, Iman
