Raspberry Ripples Baby Blanket
2018 Sunshine Charlotte CAL

When Charlotte was born, a family friend knitted her a gorgeous Fan and Feather blanket. I loved the pattern and the lightness of the blanket, but I couldn’t replicate it with a worsted weight yarn and the standard ripple pattern in crochet. So I opted for a cotton fingering yarn and recreated the beauty of Charlotte’s knit blanket.

This pattern has an 18-row repeat, so it’s an Advanced Beginner to Intermediate pattern. While you’re only working with dc and ch-1 sp, the front- and back-post stitches as well as the counting level up this pattern from a basic ripple. The finished blanket is lightweight and drapes beautifully, but it doesn’t have any large holes to trap baby fingers and toes.

The Raspberry Ripples Baby Blanket is the August installment of the 2018 Sunshine Charlotte Crochet ALong, which features a different baby blanket pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to crochet charities. I’m featuring a different charity each month on my blog, but you can also donate to the charity of your choice. I design and donate these baby blankets in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
