Raureif, named after the German word for hoarfrost, takes its inspiration from frost-covered conifer branches. The interplay of vertical tree trunks and horizontal branches is reflected in the textured fabric and carefully placed details. Worked in mock rib, the vest features a structured surface without the bulk of brioche, while lifted increases, a delicate lateral braid and short-row shaping add refinement to the simple silhouette. Ribbed edgings complete the design.

NOTES
This buttoned vest begins with the cast-on for the back. A few German Short Rows form the shoulder slopes and the back is worked top down to the underarms with increases to shape the armholes. The fronts are worked separately, with a built-in ribbed front band and buttonholes on the right front. The neck is shaped with increases. When the underarms are reached, back and fronts are joined and the vest is worked down to the 1 x 1 Rib hem. The lateral braid and the shaped ribbing are repeated at the neck. The armholes are finished with a lateral braid and ribbed edgings that are shaped with short rows.
