Rave sleeves
Be the star of the party with these awesome sleeves! Made with cotton and lots of holes for breathability. So put on your favorite techno bangers and let’s get knitting :D
Materials used:
Yarn: 150 gr (=375m, 3 skeins) of a sport weight cotton yarn, I used Cheval Blanc Sunny in black). This yarn is labeled as 25 stitches in 4in/10cm on 3-3.5mm needles.
Needles: 5mm circular needles, I used a 80cm connecting cable.
Stitch markers: 4
Scrap yarn for stitch holders: 3 pieces
Darning needle for weaving in the ends
Pattern notes:
This is a pattern I made simply because I really wanted to make these supercool sleeves and I could not find a pattern for what I had in mind anywhere. It has been a process of trial and error, but I love the way they turned out, so I decided to share the pattern. I have made a guide for multiple sizes, however I’m not a professional pattern maker so feel free to experiment to get the right fit for you.
The stitch I used for this project is based on the Easy Mesh Lace Knitting Stitch found here: https://www.studioknitsf.com/mesh-lace-knitting-stitch/#m..., however instead of switching the yo, k2tog to k2tog, yo on the third row, I kept it the same. I found this to look a bit nicer as the k2tog stitches form a nice diagonal line. This also makes the pattern slanted (if you were to knit a square, it always turns into a rhombus), however, because of the stretchiness of the fabric and the short length of the body this does not cause much of a problem.
When working the mesh stitch, it is important to make sure that when you’re about to work the k2tog, the first stitch on your left needle is on top of a yo column and the second stitch on your left needle is on top of a k2tog column. To make sure the mesh pattern flows seamlessly from the neck ribbing, start the ribbing with a purl stitch, so that on the first round of the mesh pattern, when you’re working a k2tog, the first stitch on your left needle is on top of a purl column and the second stitch on you left needle is on top of a knit column. To make the ribbing flow seamlessly from the mesh pattern at the bottom of the body and the sleeves, apply the same principle, purl on top of a yo column and knit on top of a k2tog column.
It is very possible that there are mistakes in the instructions of this pattern, if you find any, I’m very sorry and please let me know so I can fix it. Also, I’m happy to answer any questions if the instructions are unclear.
