The Rayé Vest is a top-down vest with a folded double neck. First, the back is knit back and forth until the length of the underarms, then stitches are picked up from the provisional cast on edge to knit the front. After the front and the back panels have the same length they are brought together and the rest of the work is knitted in the round. At last, the hemming is done by picking up stitches around the neck and armholes, and knitting them in 1x1 rib.
The pattern comes with costumesed options. The body can be slightly fitted or boxy, and the waist rib can be either standard of plit at the sides.
It gets its name from the French word “rayé”, meaning stripes. The Rayé Vest is a simple, but classic garment. It is very easy to knit and it’s great for beginners who are trying to improve their knitting skills.
