Real Canadian SuperSocks
Inspired by a sweater I saw at Real Canadian Superstore, Real Canadian SuperSocks use cables to combine plain knit panels with lace panels.
For background on how this pattern came to be, read the design story in my group.
Level: Intermediate.
Skills Required: Pattern assumes basic knowledge of top-down sock construction, increases and decreases, cables, and grafting.
Instruction Type: Fully charted and fully written.
Construction: Top down, heel flap and gusset, grafted toe. Gusset decreases are worked on the bottom of the foot. The pattern is written generically so as to accommodate all small circumference techniques: dpns/ magic loop/ 2 circulars, both one at a time and two at a time.
Yarn: This pattern requires fingering weight yarn, about 365 yards (335 m) for the small size and about 400 yds (365 m) for the large.
Needles: 2.5 mm (US 1 1/2)
Size: Small: 7”/18 cm circumference, unstretched
Large: 8 3/4”/22 cm circumference, unstretched
This pattern has been thoroughly tested. I am very grateful to the people who took time to test the socks and pattern. Your comments, questions, and feedback were invaluable.
