These mittens incorporate elements from traditional Norwegian folk mitten designs, thumb gusset on the palm, and a pointed top.
The mitten body and cuff feature a two-color berries motif, with a smaller scale geometric pattern on the palm.
The pattern includes charts for the cuff, mitten body, and thumb. Pattern is written for women’s medium size for a hand (circumference ca. 7.5-7.7”), to fit for Size Medium. The mittens are designed with norwegian gore.
This pattern is suitable for knitters who have some experience with stranded and circular knitting.
● I’d like to share how this design came to be—the inspiration behind the drawings and sketches that I later turned into the design for these mittens. These mittens are far more than a warm winter accessory—they are a story told in yarn, a piece of folklore brought to life loop by loop.
● Inspired by the beloved traditional Scottish song “The Wee Robin’s Christmas Song” (or “Wee Robin’s Yule Sang”), this design wraps you in the timeless charm of old winter legends. At the very heart of each mitten sits a sweet European robin, framed by classic two-colour botanical motifs of wild berries and woodland leaves.
● This design is a companion for your senses. As you knit, the story unfolds gently in your hands; and once finished, it accompanies you on frosty Christmas walks through snow-dusted woods and quiet winter parks. Wearing them is like stepping back into the magical wonder of childhood, where every winter evening holds a touch of enchantment.
● If your heart warmed to traditional folklore, nature, and the pure poetry of the festive season, these mittens will make a truly enchanting handmade gift—for someone you love, or as a cozy keepsake for yourself.
