Red Butte Creek, a beautiful stream that feeds the Great Salt Lake through the Jordan River, is surrounded by birch, cottonwood and chokecherry. It is a perennial stream that has created a narrow-based canyon with abruptly rising sides. The creek comes out of Red Butte Canyon, the smallest canyon of the seven canyons in eastern Salt Lake County. The canyon is a protected reserve making the Red Butte Creek watershed the most pristine area along the Wasatch Front.
