The Red Line Shawl is designed to be an easy, relaxing knit — the kind of project you can work on while watching TV or during knit night. It’s simple to knit yet engaging enough to keep you interested, perfect for when you want something mindful but not fussy.
The color palette was inspired by a red and tan striped scarf I saw for sale online — I loved the color combination and wanted to reimagine it in a more elevated way as an asymmetrical triangle shawl worked in soft, luxurious yarn such as KAOS Soft Merino.
This shawl is also an easy way to use up that special fingering-weight skein you’ve been saving — plus a mini skein or small amount of contrast color for the stripes. For my sample, I used KAOS Soft Merino, which comes in 50 g skeins — two skeins of the main color and one of the contrast color.
• Finished Size: Approx. 67 in (170 cm) longest side × 50 in (127 cm) short side × 38 in (96.5 cm) deepest point
• Skills: Knit flat, YO increases, K2tog decreases, elastic bind-off (k2tog tbl method)
• Pattern includes: Fully written instructions for setup, stripe sections, and finishing
• Yarn used: KAOS Soft Merino (Fingering; 200 m / 50 g)
– MC: Passionate – approx. 400 yds / 365 m (2 skeins)
– CC: Nostalgic – approx. 60 yds / 55 m (1 skein)
• Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles, 32″ (80 cm) or longer
• Gauge: 22 sts × 36 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in stockinette stitch, flat, after blocking
Feel free to message me with any questions or comments — I love hearing from knitters and I’m always happy to help. ❤️
