When we moved to this house, I found 25 bottles of wine in the basement. I’ll be the first to admit that I do enjoy the occasional glass of wine, usually white or rose. Most of these were red, so I’ve been giving them as gifts.

Since I was just pulling it from the basement, I felt that I needed to personalize it just a tad when giving as a gift. Hence the wine cozy. I like cables, so included them in the pattern.

The pattern is good for using up your leftover yarn, as you will not need a full skein. It will fit a wine bottle of standard circumference - at least it fits the bottles at my house. If you’re looking to cover a magnum bottle, you will need to adjust the size.

Gauge
Gauge is measured in the cable pattern. 1 repeat of the pattern is approximately 1 inch unstretched. On the bottle, the same repeat is about 1.5 inches.

It is not imperative that exact gauge be achieved, just get it close.

One final item - the liquid shown in the glass is actually hard cider, not wine. I didn’t feel like opening a full bottle of wine just to get a glamour shot.
