Colour reminded me of the Red-Rood or Red Willow branches I saw at Gap Lake one day last fall. The Red-Rood plant maintains it’s bright wine-red branches year round. The V- and Y-shaped branches brought to mind this slipped/picked-up stitch.

This pattern has knits, purls, slipped stitches, and picking up slipped stitches from rows below. This cowl is knitted in the round.

This is a pretty easy knit, once you get the hang of picking up the slipped stitches.
