Regal Crown Hat
I got the idea for this hat when I did a picot cast on on a cloche back in April. The super bulky yarn makes the picot have a fairly thick point and while playing with the cloche I turned up the brim and thought “This would make a cute way of knitting a crown”. I put the idea into the back of my head until a few days ago. I’ve been burning through my stash trying to eat up the yarn I’ve acquired over the years. It came out just as I hoped and now I have a totally awesome crown to wear when things get chilly.
This pattern is knit all in one and then the brim is flipped up and pinned down by sewing on the “gems”. This doubled brim is very warm and cozy. When I knit my hat I was using leftovers so the yellow doesn’t take a whole skein, I still have some leftover and the red I ran out of so I substituted with 2 same shade bulky yarns held together. The bulky yarns I used were Yarn Bee Luscious and, very plush fluffy eyelash type yarns that are super soft and the Airy has a sparkle to it.
You can easily just use 2 colors of any super bulky yarn or as I have shown, holding two strands of bulky together.
I’m still getting the hang of this whole my own pattern thing so if there are any problems please let me know.
