This sock was inspired by and designed for the Junkyarn Queens & Consorts mini skein set. Each color is named for one of the wives of Henry VIII, so I designed a sock that would use each one; a faded sock fit for a queen.

The fading technique is subtle and involves slipped stitches which give a faux-colorwork look.

Use a set of gradient minis, fade minis, or scraps for your own variation!

You will need:

  • Size 1 US/2.25mm circular needle with at least a 32” cord for Magic Loop
  • A tapestry needle for finishing (weaving in ends/Kitchener Stitch)
  • One set of Queens & Consorts or Warriors & Legends Junkyarn Mini Skeins OR 6 20g sock yarn scraps amounting to around 100g - each color section measures approx. 1.5 inches and uses 4-5g of yarn; this gives you a lot of freedom to make your socks shorter or longer depending on the yarn you have

Colorways Used (in Junkyarn Smooth Sock)
Color 1 - Catherine of Aragon (red/teal)
Color 2 - Anne Boleyn (yellow/gray/teal)
Color 3 - Jane Seymour (gold/white)
Color 4 - Anne of Cleves (gold/rust)
Color 5 - Katherine Howard (taupe/brown/rust)
Color 6 - Katherine Parr (red/gold)

A NOTE ON PRINTING: This pattern has been formatted with very little margin space to conserve paper. Please be sure to print at 100% so none of the pattern is cut off.
