Retro Stripes Cowl
Retro Stripes Cowl Knitting Pattern
(Chunky Weight Yarn)
A cozy and stylish cowl featuring sections of bright color pops. This easy to knit cowl features stitches suitable for beginners yet is entertaining enough for expert knitters. A quick knit, this cowl helps scratch that instant gratification itch.
The pattern calls for two skeins of the main color and one skein each of the two contrasting colors. This pattern is easy enough to modify to add additional stripes if you choose. There will be yarn left over from the two contrasting colors.
Supplies Needed:
Yarn: Tina’s Toasty Toes Punta Arenas Bulky Yarn
Shown here on Tina’s Toasty Toes Toasty Punta Arenas Chunky in colorways Storm Front Comin’ (MC – 2 skeins), Island Breeze (CC1, 1 skein). If you plan to add additional stripes in more colors than are shown here, additional skeins are needed.
Needles: US Size 9 (5.5mm) circular needles with 24” cord
Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle, scissors, blocking board/pins
Gauge:
Gauge is not vitally important to this pattern but will affect yarn yardage used. Ensure you have a light, drapey fabric. If your stitches are too tight or your fabric is too rigid, use a larger needle size. If your fabric is too loose or too see-through, use a smaller needle size. The sample shown was done on a US Size 9 in Continental Knitting.
Skills Needed:
Knitting in the round, purling, kfb (knit front and back) increases.
There are no short rows used in this pattern.
This pattern is suitable for beginners.
