Reverse Fleegle Heel
This heel is the reverse of the Fleegle heel, knit cuff-down instead of toe-up. The instructions are for the heel only and meant to be used with other cuff-down sock patterns.
GAUGE
Any gauge.
SIZES
Based on the total stitch count of the sock:
36, 40, 44 (48, 52, 56) 60, 64, 68 {72, 76, 80} stitches.
YARN
Any yarn can be used for this pattern.
Sample yarn: Sport weight - Schoppel Zauberball Starke 6 (75% Superwash Wool, 25% Nylon) in color 2516 Abendstunde.
NEEDLES
Any needle size to achieve a sock gauge using your chosen yarn weight.
Suggested needle size:
Fingering - US 0/2.0 mm or US 1/2.25 mm
Sport - US 1.5/2.5 mm or US 2/2.75 mm
DK - US 3/3.25 mm or US 4/3.5 mm
Worsted - US 5/3.75 mm or US 6/4.0 mm
MAGIC LOOP METHOD
This pattern uses the magic loop method. All instructions are based on half of the stitches being on the front needle and the other half on the back needle. You can substitute another method, but you’ll need to keep track of the stitches as “front needle stiches” and “back needle stitches.”
Note: This pattern is different from the Strong heel, because the heel flap/turn is at the back of the heel instead of beneath it. This makes the heel taller and provides slightly more room in the instep.
