My Shawl Starters, Set 2 patterns, now in progress, feature identically reversible rib patterns in a boomerang shape. Ribs compliment the boomerang shape with its diagonal shape and their lines. This Half Twisted Ribs pattern, from Set 2, uses a marl technique where two yarns are held together. I chose the lovely 3 ply natural marl and solid color hand dyed yarn of Paula Kucera at White Barn Farm Sheep and Wool of New Paltz, New York.

There are instructions for 2 and 4 skein shawls. It may be knit in multiple sizes, according to how much yarn you have or how big you prefer to wear. My yarn came in 265 yd skeins, so a 2 skein shawl would be 530 yds, with the yarn held doubled. I chose to knit a 4 skein size and that was 1060 yds. It is 73”x25”x57, with a depth of 17”. The 2 skein size is 48”x17”x40”, with a depth of 12”.

Gauge is not critical, I am an average tension knitter and chose needles that made the fabric I liked, dense, but still having drape. An alternative single held yarn would be heavy worsted or aran.

Enjoy a relaxing intermediate knit on larger needles. Thank you for looking at my pattern.
