I designed this unique scarf for a customer who wanted a quick and easy cabled scarf. It’s so easy, she’s on her 4th one already, and that’s all in one week! I especially like the fact that you don’t have to do anything heroic to keep track of your rows - the garter stitch borders act as a quick reminder of when to cable. I put a note in the pattern explaining exactly how to do this.

This scarf is completely Reversible - both sides are Identical.
It’s just a simple cable, but with a twist, and bordered with Garter Stitch. Repeat the same row a number of times, then work your cable row. It really is that simple, but so effective.

I’ve knitted two of them - the grey one is in Misti Alpaca Chunky, 100% Baby Alpaca, and so soft. This one took 2 skeins (108 yards each) for a scarf measuring about 6” wide and 70” long. The blue one is in Muench Yarns Touch Me, a rayon/wool blend chenille that you throw in the washing machine to slightly felt making it look like antique crushed velvet - really wonderful yarn. This one took 4 skeins (61 yards each) for a scarf measuring about 3” wide by 72” long.

Oh, and I do carry both yarns. Send me an e-mail if you’re interested.

I’ve written the pattern for sport, worsted and bulky weight yarns, but you could use just about anything. Yardage is anywhere from 216 yards to about 285 yards. Needle sizes range from US Size 6 (4mm) to US Size 11 (8mm). Or, just match the needles to the yarn you’re using.

As with all my patterns, I’m always happy to help if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!
