This scarf is knit flat. It is knit using ribbed cables that make the scarf completely reversible. Cables are 4 x 4, but since the cable stitches are ribbed, the appearance is that they are 2 x 2 cables. This is because 2 x 2 stitch cables appear on each side of the knitting.

This makes knitting this scarf TOTALLY FUN!
