The right side lace border is worked first, by casting on stitches for the right side edge. The lace pattern is worked until you reach the upper edge of the right side border. A portion of the stitches is placed on waste yarn, these will later be used to work the body of the shawl. You will continue to work the lace pattern with the stitches that are still on your needle, to form the left side of the lace border.
After the border is complete, you will transfer the right side lace border stitches from the waste yarn to a needle, and pick up stitches along the right edge of the left lace border. Then you will work the body of the shawl using increases and decreases to shape the shawl body. Finally, short rows are worked to fill out the upper body of the shawl.

Note: the lace pattern is CHARTED ONLY.
