You will need 2 skiens of Gunmetal and 1 each of White and Robin. This is enough for the scarf and a pair of mittens.

Colors:
K1 = Gunmetal
K2 = Robin Egg
K3 = White

Cast 44 stitches and using K1 work in k3, p2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k3 pattern. (repeat k2, p2 until the last 3 stitches, then k3)

Complete 50 rows with K1 and start with pattern 1
Pattern 1:
K2 8 rows
K3 4 rows
K2 8 rows
K3 8 rows
Complete 26 rows with K1 and start with pattern 2

Pattern 2:
K3 4 rows
K2 4 rows
K1 4 rows
K2 8 rows

Complete 26 rows with K1 and start with pattern 3

Pattern 3:
K3 12 rows
K2 4 rows
K3 4 rows

Complete 26 rows with K1 and start with pattern 4

Pattern 4:
K3 4 rows
K2 8 rows
K1 2 rows

Continue from here starting with pattern 4 in reverse
(ex. K1 2 rows, K2 8 rows, K3 4 rows)

CHAIN EDGE:
On every RS row, slip the first and last stitch as if you were going to purl, on the WS, knit the first stitch through the back of the loop and knit the last stitch.
