This is a simple-to-work cowl that is so stretchy, cosy and warm. Wear it just to keep your neck warm or pull it down over your shoulders!

It is worked flat and from side to side. It is constructed as a simple fisherman’s rib tube with three right angled triangles of welt stitch inserted using short rows to provide shaping. It is completed using a three needle bind off. This produces a well-fitting and very soft stretchy fabric that fits round the neck but can easily be stretched around the shoulders.

Samples are worked using double knit and with 2 strands of fingering/4 ply held together. Both ways work well.

There are instructions on using German short rows, or other short row techniques and you can cast on using your preferred provisional cast on technique.
